Michael Jackson

Majkl Džozef Džekson (eng. Michael Joseph Jackson; 29. avgust 1958 – 25. jun 2009) je bio američki muzičar, zabavljač, i biznismen. Osmo je dete porodice Džekson. Debitovao je na profesionalnoj muzičkoj sceni sa jedanaest godina kao član grupe Džekson 5. Solo karijeru je započeo 1971. dok je još uvek bio član grupe. U kasnijim godinama, u javnosti se često nazivao „Kraljem popa“. Pet njegovih solo studijskih albuma su jedni od najprodavanijih muzičkih materijala na svetu: „Off the Wall“ (1979.), „Thriller“ (1982.), „Bad“ (1987.), „Dangerous“ (1991.) i „HIStory“ (1995.).

Početkom osamdesetih godina dvadesetog veka, postao je dominantna figura u popularnoj muzici i prvi afroamerički zabavljač koji je stekao jak publicitet na MTV. Popularnost spotova njegovih pesama koji su prikazivani na MTV kao što su „Beat It“, „Billie Jean“ i „Thriller“- poznati po transformaciji spota u umetničku formu i promocijalnu alatku- je pomogla relativno mladoj televiziji da stekne ugled. Jedan je od par umetnika koji su uvršteni u „Rokenrol hali slavnih“ dva puta. Vlasnik je nekoliko Ginisovih rekorda (među kojim i rekorda za „Najuspešnijeg zabavljača svih vremena“) i 13 Gremija. Do sada je izdao 13 singlova koji su bili na prvom mestu liste „Bilbord hot 100“, više nego bilo koji muški izvođač. Prodao je više od 750 miliona primeraka svojih albuma. Džeksonov jako poznati privatni život zajedno sa njegovom uspešnom karijerom ga čini delom popularne kulture za četiri poslednje decenije i jednim od najpoznatijih muškaraca na svetu.

Dok se pripremao za svoju poslednju koncertnu turneju 2009,pedesetogodisnji Dzekson je preminuo usled predoziranja. Njegova komemoracija je prikazivana uzivo sirom sveta i posmatralo ju je oko milijardu ljudi.
